Population

The region of the Rif is, together with the Algerian Kabylia, the area of the Maghreb with a bigger density of rural population. This is owed mainly to the high fecundity that causes the population's strong growth.

But so high population density cannot stay with the limited resources of the region and it has been forced to undertake the emigration, mainly toward Europe. The consequence has been that the third part of the emigrated Moroccans comes from the north.

The county of AlHoceima has a numerous and young population, although with big differences between  urban areas and the rural means.

This population grows little and only in the cities, since the rural means suffers a stagnation for the  migration.

The urbanization level is still scarce and concentrates on the bay of AlHoceima, where more than the capital grows the towns of its suburb.

Rural population's density is very high, mainly in the valley of the Nekor river and the mountains of  Ketama.

Half of this population they are children smaller than 15 years, and of them the half has less than 6 years.

The rates of childrens in school is very reduced, because although among at the capital it arrives to 90%, in the mountains are only 58 children and 21 girls of each 100.

Between the 14 and the 19 years begins the incorporation to the work, that isn't usually made as  salaried it under the form of family help.

Among the adolescents, and mainly among the girls, the unemployment grows in that intermediate age between the school and the marriage.

The marriage arrives to an age 30 year-old average for the men and 3 years less for the women. In the mature ages the differences between men and women are firm. Among the women of the mountain only a % is family head, but 80% she works like family help without wage and 92% is illiterate.

The economic activity concentrates on the cattle raising and the agriculture, mainly for the women. But the woman's main paper is reproductive, because between the 25 and the 50 years they end up being reached you value means of up to 8,4 children for fertile woman in Bni Bouchibet, although in urban areas as Ajdir goes down to 1,3.

This fecundity is given under some very faulty sanitary conditions. This high fecundity, next to the growth of the unemployment and the shortage of housings, makes that the families are more and more big.

The result of all these natural, economic and cultural factors -nuptials, fecundity, emigration, mortality -
population with a very unbalanced structure. The group of the children supposes a high contingent and without tendency to decrease in the field. In the adults the lack of men is reduced in the mountain, due to the emigration. And among the old men there is an irregular allotment of sexes since in the rural means  the women have a drop hope of life for their hard conditions.
