Routes Description:
viñeta "CERRO BLANCO" PROTECTED FOREST AND "PARQUE LAGO"- 1 day.-

 

Endemism Center:

Equatorial Pacific Coast:

-         Tropical Deciduous Forest

-         Freshwater Lakes and Ponds

 

        Cerro Blanco is located half an hour from Guayaquil, on the "Vía a la Costa" (Road to the Coast).

 

We will arrive to Cerro Blanco very early in the morning, and will walk the “Canoa” trail. Later we`ll search for birds on the general area and the “Las Aves” trail. To end the day we`ll visit "Parque Lago". We are going to be back in Guayaquil around 17h00.

viñeta "MANGLARES CHURUTE" ECOLOGICAL RESERVE AND "JESÚS MARÍA"- 1 day.-

Northern Andes (sub: Western Andes)

-         Montane Evergreen Forest

 

        "Manglares Churute" is located 1 hour from Guayaquil, on the way to "Machala".

 

        The arrival to "Manglares Churute" Ecological Reserve will be very early in the morning. We'll walk around the lower part of the "Más Vale" hill, until noon when we'll have a small lunch. Then the journey continues to the Jesús María area, where we begin climbing the Andes (by car)until around 1000 meters above sea level, and we can look for birds from the main road. Then we return to Guayaquil at about 17h00.

Chocó Lowlands:

-         Secondary Lowland Evergreen Forest

 

        "Manglares Churute" is located 1 hour from Guayaquil, on the way to "Machala".

 

        The journey will start in "Manglares Churute" Ecological Reserve very early in the morning. We'll walk a trail in the lower part of the “Más Vale” hill and its surroundings. At noon we are having a smalll lunch, to then go to the "Tilapia" fish raising ponds. Around 17h00 we will have check in at “Cascada Inn” (or similar), at the base of the Andes.

        The second day is in the mangrove forest at "Rescate Jambelí" Foundation, and the wildlife rescue center, until around 17h00 that we are going back to the Inn.

        The third day is around "Manta Real", evergreen forest remanents, where we'll be looking for birds along the dirt road. Estimated return to Guayaquil: 18h00.

viñeta "VÍA DEL PACÍFICO"- 5 days, 4 nights.-

"Mar Bravo" is located an hour and a half from Guayaquil, on the "Santa Elena" peninsula.

 

        The departure from Guayaquil is very early in the morning, toward the ecuadorian coast. The first stop is around the towns "Ancón" and "Atahualpa", where we can find the birds of the Arid Scrub. Later we stop by "Mar Bravo", and the salt evaporation ponds of "Ecua Sal", resting site of different migratory species. After that we'll head to "Real Alto" and "Chanduy". The check in will be around 17h30.

 

        The second day will be on the “Vía del Pacífico”, the road that leads north, next to the beach. Then we stop at "Montañita", before entering to "Hostería Cantalapiedra", small lodge surrounded with woodlands (Shared Bathrooms).

 

        The third day starts very early walking a trail on the hills around the lodge. Then we go back to the “Vía del Pacífico” to drive toward "Ayampe" river. After that to "Puerto López", where we are spending the night.

 

        The morning of the fourth day we'll take the boat to "La PLata" island. On the way, if is the right season (july to september), we can see the humpback whales. We later arrive to the osland and walk a short trail. The island is also called "Continental Galapagos", because here you can find some boobies, pelicans, frigate birds, and even the Waved Albatross an the Red Billed TRopicbird. Then we return to "Puerto López".

 

        The last day we'll head toward "Manta", most important Tuna exportation port of the south pacific, adn beautiful beaches. on the afternoon we visit "Montecristi", capital of the "Panama Hats". Then return to Guayaquil.
